This page defines what is included in each Honeydew commercial tier.
For pricing specific to a given deployment size or contract structure, contact the Honeydew account team or sales@honeydew.ai.

Commercial tiers

Honeydew offers three tiers:
  • Lite — designed for small teams and startups getting started with the semantic layer.
  • Standard — suited to teams that need broader BI connectivity and enterprise-grade security, management, and governance.
  • Enterprise — for organizations deploying at scale, with large user populations, BI Access seats, private deployment, or custom commercial requirements.
The full feature comparison is below.

Pricing dimensions

Honeydew is priced across three independent metered dimensions. List prices below reflect standard pricing; volume and multi-year discounts are available on annual commitments and are included in a commercial proposal.

Named Users — AI & full access

A Named User is any identified individual who accesses Honeydew through any interface: a BI tool with user authentication, an AI interface (Slack, Teams, MCP), the Snowflake Native App, or Honeydew Studio. Named Users represent the full-access business user license — covering AI analytics, any BI tool, and end-to-end row-level security propagation. Volume discounts are available on annual commitments. What a Named User seat includes:
  • AI Deep Analyst — text-to-insight powered by a semantic compiler
  • All BI tool integrations with named-user identity and row-level security (Standard and Enterprise)
  • MCP (Model Context Protocol) access for AI agent workflows
  • Slack, Teams, and custom AI interface access
  • Honeydew Studio for data exploration
  • Snowflake Native App access
  • GraphQL API access

Autonomous AI Agents

An autonomous AI agent accesses Honeydew via an API key and operates without direct human interaction — for example, a scheduled pipeline, an orchestration workflow, or a background analytics process. This is distinct from a Named User accessing Honeydew interactively through MCP via OAuth. Autonomous agents are currently metered as Named User seats for simplicity. The conversion rate — a defined number of monthly tool calls per seat — is specified in the contract, in the same way as volume discounts.
Autonomous agent pricing is currently aligned with Named User pricing and may be updated as agent-based usage patterns evolve. Specific terms are defined in the contract.

BI Access — Anonymous seats

BI Access seats license anonymous or service-account-based consumption of the Honeydew semantic layer from BI tools. They represent business users on existing BI — consumers of dashboards built on Honeydew-governed metrics, without individual identity tracking. Most deployments include BI Access seats from the outset, since organizations adopting Honeydew typically have an established BI user population to cover.
The dedicated BI Access seat tier ($10/seat) is available on Enterprise only. On Lite and Standard, anonymous or service-account access is supported but billed at the Named User rate — there is no separate discounted tier.
The seat count is a contractual commitment — not a metered count. The organization declares the number of BI consumers; Honeydew does not track individual consumer identity. Volume discounts are available on annual commitments. What a BI Access seat includes:
  • Access to Honeydew-governed metrics from any connected BI tool via service account
  • Consistent, cached, aggregate-aware query results
  • Central metric definitions and governance for all BI consumers
What a BI Access seat does not include:
  • AI Deep Analyst or any natural language interface
  • MCP / AI agent access
  • Named-user row-level security propagation
  • Honeydew Studio access
  • Individual audit trails per user

Active Metrics & Attributes

Active Metrics & Attributes measures the number of metrics and attributes actively exposed to users. An active object is any attribute or metric exposed through an active domain. Volume discounts are available on annual commitments. What counts as an active object:
  • Any attribute or metric that is part of an active domain
What does not count:
  • Objects in domains that have not been activated for external consumption
  • Objects in development branches not yet promoted to production
An object appearing in multiple active domains or branches is counted once.
On Enterprise, pricing converts to a flat rate at 5,000 objects — equivalent to 5,000 × the per-object price. Beyond that threshold, additional objects are included at no extra charge.

Volume discounts

Volume discounts apply to all three pricing dimensions — Named Users, BI Access, and Active Metrics & Attributes — on annual commitments. The discount applied to each dimension reflects the contracted volume. Specific tiers and rates are included in a commercial proposal.

Multi-year discounts

Multi-year discounts are available on all tiers and apply uniformly across all billable dimensions for the full contract term. Discount rates are included in a commercial proposal.

Flex Clause

Available on Enterprise tier. The Flex Clause allows an organization to convert contracted BI Access seats into Named User seats as AI adoption grows — without renegotiating the contract. This is designed for organizations that begin with a large BI viewer population (BI Access seats) and want the flexibility to migrate users to the AI Deep Analyst as departments adopt natural language analytics, without being constrained by the original seat mix. How it works: A defined portion of contracted BI Access seats may be converted to Named User seats at an agreed conversion ratio, up to a cap per contract year. Conversions are one-way (BI Access → Named User) and are irrevocable within the contract term. The specific terms — including conversion ratio, annual cap, and any retention floor — are defined in the Enterprise agreement.

Evaluations and trials

A 14-day trial is available on all tiers with no credit card required. The trial includes full access to all features, a dedicated Slack or Teams support channel, one onboarding session, and up to 4 hours of data modeling guidance. Extended evaluation pilots are available for all tiers. Contact the Honeydew team to coordinate.

Definitions

Named User — An identified individual accessing Honeydew through any interface: a BI tool with user authentication or SSO, an AI interface (Slack, Teams, MCP), the Snowflake Native App, Honeydew Studio, or the API. Autonomous AI agents are metered separately — see Autonomous AI Agents. BI Access Seat — An anonymous or service-account-based entitlement for BI tool consumption. The organization commits to a seat count representing the number of BI consumers; individual identity is not tracked by Honeydew. Enterprise tier only. Active Object — Any attribute or metric that is part of an active domain. Objects in inactive domains or in development branches not promoted to production do not count. An object appearing in multiple active domains or branches is counted once. Active Domain — A domain that has been activated for external consumption (BI tools, AI interfaces, or the API). Domains accessed only through the Honeydew Studio UI are not considered active for billing purposes. Editor — A member of the data team with full Honeydew Studio access, modeling rights, and administrative capabilities. Flex Clause — A contractual option on Enterprise plans that allows conversion of contracted BI Access seats into Named User seats, subject to terms defined in the Enterprise agreement.

Frequently asked questions

A Named User is any identified individual consuming Honeydew through an external tool or interface:
  • Users who log into BI tools via SSO or user authentication
  • Users who interact with Honeydew through an AI interface (Slack, Teams, or a custom chatbot)
  • Users who call the Honeydew Snowflake Native App
  • Users who use Honeydew Studio for modeling or exploration
  • Autonomous AI agents — metered as Named User seats at a conversion rate defined in the contract
Yes. Some workloads do not identify users individually — for example, a BI tool without per-user authentication, an embedded API application, or an automated process. These are licensed as BI Access seats (Enterprise tier), not Named Users. Contact the Honeydew team for details.
No. Named Users can query as much as they need on all tiers. There is no per-query metering.
It is counted once, regardless of how many active domains or development branches it appears in.
Yes, on annual commitments for all three pricing dimensions. Specific rates are included in a commercial proposal.
Yes. Honeydew is SOC 2 Type II certified. Security documentation is available via the Trust Center.
A 14-day trial is available at honeydew.ai. Extended evaluation pilots are available for all tiers — contact sales@honeydew.ai or the Honeydew account team to coordinate.
